Spotify, the popular on-demand music-streaming service, may soon branch into streaming on-demand video, according to a report Monday.

The London-based company would stream video much the same way as Netflix. On top of that, Spotify also plans to create its own original content, according to Business Insider, which cited two unnamed sources.

Original video could help Spotify attract more subscribers the same way HBO managed to do when it began making its own shows, the report said.

The music-streaming service has been popular in the U.S. since it launched here in 2011. Users can listen to music for free on condition that they allow ads on their computers; users can pay $5 a month to get rid of ads or $10 to get rid of ads and also listen to music on their mobile phones.

According to Business Insider, Spotify is looking for partners that can help it fund and create the exclusive content.
