Samsung is confirming that it will unveil its next generation Galaxy S smartphone on March 14.
J.K. Shin, Samsung’s mobile chief, said at the World Mobile Congress in Barcelona that the company will announce the Galaxy S IV on that day in New York, according to a report Monday by Edaily, a South Korean news site.
The date had previously been reported by a number of news outlets citing unnamed sources, but this was the first time a Samsung official had disclosed the date for the unveiling of the next version of the company’s flagship device.

After the Edaily report, Samsung Mobile teased the announcement on Twitter, tweeting “March 14. Ready 4 the show? #UNPACKED” along with a picture that says “Come and meet the next Galaxy.”
According to the image, the event will take place at 4 p.m. PDT on March 14. The company will live stream the event from its Samsung Mobile YouTube channel.
As for the phone itself, the Galaxy S IV is rumored to have a 5-inch screen that might use flexible OLED technology, providing for a higher-resolution image and a more durable display.
