Amazon.com discounts 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD for Valentine’s Day
Amazon.com, looking to spur Valentine’s Day gift buying, is cutting the price of its 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD tablet by as much as 10%.
The Seattle-based online retailer on Monday said it was knocking $30 off the tablet’s Wi-Fi versions and $50 off its 4G-capable units. To get the discount, which lasts through Friday, users have to enter “FIRELOVE” as a promotional code during checkout.
The discount marks down the Wi-Fi version of the 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD to $269 for the 16-gigabyte model and $339 for the 32-gigabyte model. Meanwhile, the 4G 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD with 16 GB costs $449 with the discount and the model with 32 GB comes down to $549.
10 tech companies to watch in 2013
This isn’t the first time Amazon has discounted the 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD. During January, the company took $50 off for college students. That promotion is over, but Amazon wasted no time putting the device on sale again.
Amazon is not the only tech company running a Valentine’s Day promotion. Last week, Verizon Wireless placed a number of its phones on sale and introduced a special pink version of the Motorola RAZR M.
