Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0, an iPad mini rival, to hit stores Thursday
In its latest move against Apple, Samsung said Tuesday the Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet, a competitor to iPad mini, will hit stores in the U.S. this Thursday.
The South Korean electronics giant said the small tablet will only be available in a Wi-Fi version and sell for $400. The model comes with 16 gigabytes of storage.
Samsung originally announced the Galaxy Note 8.0 in February. The company said the tablet comes with an 8-inch, 1,280-by-800 pixel resolution screen that has a 189-pixel density. It runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and uses a 1.6 GHz A9 quad-core processor.

The Galaxy Note 8.0 has a 5-megapixel rear camera and 1.3-megapixel front camera. Like other Galaxy Note products, the new tablet will come with Samsung’s S-Pen stylus. The tablet will also come with a microSD slot so users can expand its memory.
The new tablet will be available from retailers including Amazon, Staples and Best Buy. The Galaxy Note 8.0 will also be one of two major mobile products released by Samsung this month -- the other major product being the Galaxy S 4 smartphone.
The Galaxy S 4, or the GS4, is the follow-up to 2012’s incredibly popular Galaxy S III. The new smartphone goes on sale later this month and will be available from all major U.S. carriers. AT&T; customers can begin pre-ordering that device April 16.
