Wal-Mart to sell iPhone 5 for $189; preorders start Friday
Wal-Mart is set to begin preorders for the iPhone 5 on Friday morning, selling the device for $10 less than its competitors.
Starting at 8 a.m. PDT, the retailer will sell the 16 GB version of the iPhone 5 for $189.97 if the buyer signs up for a two year service plan with either AT&T;, Verizon or Sprint.
Apple, AT&T;, Verizon and Sprint will also be selling the iPhone 5, but they’ll sell the 16 GB model for $199 with a two-year plan.
Wal-Mart said users who want to preorder should find a store that will carry the device and must come in person. They must deposit $25 on the purchase and in return they’ll get a reservation card that they can use when the phone arrives in stores Sept. 21.
Apple, AT&T; and Sprint will also begin preorders Friday, starting at 12:01 a.m. Verizon has also said it will do preorders, but the carrier has not yet confirmed what time exactly they will begin.
