Sprint to sell Samsung Galaxy Note II Oct. 25
Sprint will begin selling the enormous 5.5-inch Samsung Galaxy Note II smartphone/tablet hybrid device Oct. 25.
The Kansas-based network, which recently agreed to sell a 70% stake to Japan’s SoftBank Corp., announced the upcoming Samsung phone will start selling for $299.99 on a two-year contract to new customers and those with upgrades.
Sprint did not specify how much storage the phone will have, but said it will sell both color options offered by Samsung -- marble white and titanium gray.
The Galaxy Note II features one of if not the largest display of any smartphone. By comparison, Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S III smartphone has a 4.8” screen and Apple’s iPhone 5 has a 4” screen.
The device runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and uses a 1.6Ghz quad-core Exynos processor. The phone features an 8-megapixel rear camera and an HD front-facing camera as well. It also includes Samsung’s stylus the S Pen.
Besides Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T; have also confirmed they will carry the Galaxy Note II, but they have not put out release dates for their variants of the device.
[Update 11:13 a.m., Oct. 17: Sprint has confirmed the $299.99 model will have 16 GB of storage.]
