Google delays Nexus Q launch to make improvements

Google is delaying the launch of the Nexus Q to improve the device. Those who pre-ordered it will now get it free.

The Mountain View tech company notified its customers of the delay Tuesday, saying “we have decided to postpone the consumer launch of Nexus Q while we work on making it even better.”

The Q, the first product independently manufactured by Google, currently doesn’t do much. The bowling ball-shaped device plays video only from Google Play or YouTube, and it will run audio only from Google Music.

The company has declined to share what improvements the device will get, according to Wired. We’re hopeful Google will add more features to make it worth its $299 price tag (perhaps the ability to run Netflix, Hulu, Pandora or Android apps).

Google has stopped taking pre-orders for the device, and it also did not give an expected release date.

But those who pre-ordered can expect it to arrive in a matter of weeks.
