Galaxy S III begins selling at Verizon, discounted by Amazon

Verizon has begun selling the Samsung Galaxy S III at its stores now, joining its top three U.S. competitors, but at the same time, Amazon has begun offering the phone discounted $50.

The flagship Samsung phone is available from the carrier in both its $199.99 16 GB version and for $249.99 in a 32 GB version with a two-year contract. Customers who pre-ordered the phone, though, have already been receiving it throughout the week, according to a report.

While the best way to get a phone from Verizon now is to go to one of its stores, you can also continue to buy it online. However, it probably won’t get to you until at least Monday.

But while the phone has finally gotten to Verizon, you can get it for $50 less on Amazon. The online retailer is selling discounted versions of the 16 GB phone that work with Verizon, Sprint and AT&T.; While this is excellent for Sprint and AT&T; customers, Verizon customers will have to wait one or two weeks for the phone to arrive as it is back ordered at this moment.

The Galaxy S III has been out in Europe since late May. It made its way to the U.S. last month, landing at Sprint and T-Mobile, and last week, AT&T; began selling it in stores.

AT&T; is also carrying a red version of the phone that it will put on pre-sale Sunday. It is planned to go on sale in stores July 29, and it will have 16 GBs and be available for $199.99 with a two-year contract.

While the Samsung Galaxy S III has a 4.8-inch screen and a feature called S Voice that is supposed to rival Apple’s Siri, it runs on Android Ice Cream Sandwich, so it’s not up to date to Google’s latest mobile operating system.
