Vegas shops big on Small Business Saturday

Sandwiched between Black Friday and Cyber Monday is the opportunity for small businesses to shine and earn their fair share of holiday dollars: Small Business Saturday.

In Las Vegas, where the motto “shop locally” is becoming more and more embedded into the local culture, Small Business Saturday takes the form of a centralized shopping extravaganza called Neon Bazaar.

Conceptualized as an outdoor market and held in the heart of downtown, just across the street from the El Cortez Hotel & Casino, Neon Bazaar features only small, locally owned retailers, designers and artists such as Patina Décor, Artifact, Velveteen Rabbit, The Attic, Boho Furniture, I Adorn U, Pop Goes the Icon, Desert Art Supply, Shaggy Chic, Jessica Galindo Leather Couture, American Vagabond, Coterie and many more. In total, the event aims to showcase more than 50 Las Vegas-based vendors.

“By shopping locally and supporting homegrown business, we keep money in our community and are ultimately investing in the future of our city,” said Polly Weinstein, owner of the Jeweler’s Daughter and organizer of Neon Bazaar.

Shoppers can also enjoy live music, photos with Santa and giveaways. Food trucks are included in the party, selling snacks to shoppers on as they complete their gift lists. This year, the Art Institute of Las Vegas will present fashion shows throughout the day featuring clothing and accessories from local designers and boutiques.

Shop the Neon Bazaar Saturday, Nov. 30, from noon to 6 p.m. at the Jackie Gaughan Parkway at the El Cortez. For more information, visit the event’s website at www.neonbazaarlv.com.
