Glennon Doyle Melton, the popular Christian blogger and author of the Oprah Winfrey-approved memoir “Love Warrior,” about the difficulties with her marriage to husband Craig, is now in a relationship with soccer star Abby Wambach.

Melton revealed the news on Sunday in a Facebook post, accompanied by a picture of the two women smiling together.

“Feels like the world could use all the love it can get right now. So today, I’m going to share with you my new love,” she wrote. “Her name is Abby. You might recognize her from soccer. She was one of the best players of all time, and she has been a fierce and committed advocate for women’s equality for a decade. And honestly? Those are the least impressive things about her.”

Melton’s memoir “Love Warrior” recounts her fight to save her marriage after she learned her husband had been unfaithful to her. The book ends with Melton and her husband determined to stay together and make their relationship work.

But a few weeks before the book was published in September, Melton wrote on her blog Momastery that she and her husband decided to separate.

Winfrey announced on the book’s publication date that she had chosen it as the latest entry in her book club, calling it “funny,” “daring” and “raw.”

Melton followed up her Facebook post with an Instagram photo on Monday, showing her embracing Wambach, who’s holding a guitar. “PRECIOUS WORLD: I LOVE ABBY. Love Wins,” she wrote.

Wambach is widely considered one of the greatest soccer players in the world. She won two Olympic gold medals and was named FIFA World Player of the Year in 2012. She spent most of her professional career as a forward for the Washington Freedom soccer team.

Wambach’s memoir “Forward” was released one week after “Love Warrior.” The book details her soccer career as well as her struggles with alcohol and prescription drug abuse, which, she says, led to her recent divorce from her wife, former professional soccer player Sarah Huffman.

Melton’s announcement comes less than three months after her friend Elizabeth Gilbert, author of “Eat, Pray, Love,” revealed that she was in love with author and musician Rayya Elias, her best friend.

Gilbert had announced in July that she was separating from her husband José Nunes, whom she wrote about in “Eat, Pray, Love.” (Nunes was referred to as Felipe in the book.)

In her Facebook post, Melton said her ex-husband was supportive of her relationship with Wambach. “How is Craig? He’s his beautiful, kind, brave self,” she wrote. “After I told Craig, the first thing he said was: ... Is this what all the Indigo Girls has been about? I said,WHOA. I DON’T KNOW...MAYBE?”

“JOY! I’m so happy,” Melton ended her post, “Love Wins.”
