When does fast food belong in the Yale Library? When it’s Chipotle.

Usually a patron trying to carry a big cup of soda or a bag of fast food into the library will be stopped at the door. But the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Yale is welcoming them.

As long as they’re from Chipotle. And have those short stories and essays printed on them.

Chipotle’s Cultivating Thought Project is being added to the Beinecke Library’s Rare Book Collection, the Atlantic reports. The project, initiated by writer Jonathan Safran Foer, features the works of 20 literary writers on its cups and bags. They include short stories and essays by Toni Morrison, George Saunders, Malcolm Gladwell, Paolo Coehlo, Michael Lewis, Aziz Ansari, Barbara Kingsolver, Jeffrey Eugenides and more.

The complete set of literary Chipotle cups and bags joins texts by well-known writers on lapel pins, matchbooks, bumper stickers, hand bills, public transportation banners and other odd items bearing literary texts.

“The Yale Collection of American Literature collects American Literature in all its formats and in all media, documenting the ways great American writers reach diverse and unusual audiences beyond standard book publishing,” the library said in a statement.

It did not disclose whether the Chipotle materials had arrived at the library full of crispy corn tacos and burrito bowls.
