Litigation
General counsel and boards of directors call on Aaron Lewis to conduct their most sensitive internal investigations and defend their businesses and senior executives in their most serious enforcement matters. A founding member of Covington’s Los Angeles office and co-chair of the firm’s White Collar Defense and Investigations practice, he returned to Covington in 2015 after six years of service in the Department of Justice, first as counsel to Attorney General Eric Holder and later as an assistant United States attorney in Los Angeles.
Few recent developments have had a greater impact on public companies and their boards of directors than the increasing number of shareholder proposals calling for civil rights or racial equity audits. Lewis has been a leader and innovator in this rapidly evolving frontier at the intersection of ESG and traditional internal investigations since it first emerged in 2016.
