After many years as an equity partner at Greenberg Glusker Fields Claman & Machtinger LLP, Sauer and his colleague Eve Wagner founded Sauer & Wagner LLP in May 1997, and it has become a preeminent boutique law firm. Aside from his influential and high-profile casework, Sauer has represented Beit T’Shuvah, a non-profit that deals with drug addiction, and he contributes to the organization. He also contributes to the American Cancer Society and the Los Angeles Food Bank. He recently provided pro bono assistance to an individual who lived in an apartment for 17 years and was sent a notice to vacate due to a change in ownership. He negotiated an extension of several months so the individual and his family could relocate without finding interim housing.
