City of Hope, a nationally ranked, top-10 cancer center and one of the largest cancer research and treatment organizations in the country, is transforming cancer care in Orange County and beyond through its breakthrough research and treatment, leading-edge technology, precision medicine and more.

“Cancer strikes so many families, and everyone needs to know that the most advanced cancer care is right here, in our community,” says Orange County resident and grateful City of Hope patient Donna McNutt.

City of Hope’s comprehensive network of care includes City of Hope Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center - the most advanced comprehensive cancer center in Orange County - and regional clinics located throughout the county.

Construction is underway on Orange County’s only specialty cancer hospital exclusively focused on treating and curing cancer, opening in 2025.

The hospital will be seamlessly connected to the comprehensive cancer center, completing City of Hope’s $1 billion cancer campus of the future in Irvine. Together, the cancer center, the hospital and the regional clinics will create Orange County’s largest network dedicated exclusively to cancer research, treatment and cures.

Patients at City of Hope Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center receive fully integrated, multidisciplinary cancer care - from prevention through survivorship - in one convenient location where every physician and staff member is solely focused on treating and curing cancer.

Orange County’s only specialty cancer hospital moves closer to completion

City of Hope recently held a “topping off” celebrating the installation of the final structural beam of its Orange County specialty cancer hospital. The topping off marked a significant step toward advancing City of Hope’s second academic cancer campus. Grateful patients, community members and City of Hope leaders came together to honor the tradespeople who are dedicating their talents and time to building Orange County’s only specialty cancer hospital.

The six-story, 164,000-squarefoot hospital will complete the care continuum for the county’s largest network dedicated to cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship. It will include three operating rooms, imaging suites, an onsite pharmacy and the most advanced technology available.

The topping off ceremony is a longstanding tradition in the construction industry. Typically, a Christmas tree is placed on top of the beam as a crane drops it in place. City of Hope placed one of its beloved wishing trees on the beam. The wishing tree was decorated with tags containing messages of hope for people with cancer and the community.

The beam was signed by hundreds of members of the construction crews, physicians, staff, community leaders, philanthropic supporters, and grateful patients who have supported City of Hope in bringing to Orange County advanced cancer research and treatment.

More cancer specialists than anyone else in Orange County. The most clinical trials in the region - more than 800 reasons for hope. City of Hope is where cancer loses and life wins.
