Executive Director
Community Legal Aid SoCal

Kate Marr has dedicated her 23-year career to legal services, particularly working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. As the executive director of Community Legal Aid SoCal (CLA SoCal) since 2017, she has overseen significant growth with revenue increasing from $8.5M to over $15.7M and staff growing from 90 to 139. Marr’s vision led to a complete rebranding and restructuring of CLA SoCal’s legal program, resulting in expanded free legal services for low-income residents. During the pandemic, her swift response ensured uninterrupted client services through technology. She expanded CLA SoCal’s Housing Unit, helping 91 people with housing issues through pro bono volunteers. Marr’s leadership has been recognized with various awards, and she actively serves on boards and committees promoting access to justice and DV advocacy. In 2021, she testified before a California State Senate committee on the need for increased funding for legal aid organizations statewide.
