Erin Runnion, founding director of The Joyful Child Foundation - In Memory of Samantha Runnion, leads a nonprofit dedicated to preventing crimes against children through education and empowerment. After her daughter Samantha’s tragic abduction and murder in 2002, she channeled her grief into creating programs that protect children from abuse, violence, and exploitation. The BRAVE Program, with safety lessons and workshops, reaches vulnerable children and families. Amidst COVID-19, Runnion launched online workshops and video-based lessons. She is a respected spokesperson advocating for child protection in media appearances and keynote addresses. She serves on various task forces and has received several awards, including the FBI Director’s Award for Excellence. Runnion’s vision is a world where caring adults support every child’s joy and empower them to assert their boundaries and reach their full potential.
