Damaris Medina is a shareholder and chief diversity officer at Buchalter’s Los Angeles and Orange County offices. She is co-chair of the health care & life sciences practice, serving on the board of directors and chairing Women@Buchalter. She represents hospital systems and diverse healthcare clients in high-stakes litigation in federal and state courts, including arbitration. Medina has successfully litigated large exposure reimbursement cases against major health plans, recovering millions for providers. Additionally, she advises on managed care contracting, revenue cycle strategies, and risk and compliance matters. She defends against private and government payor audits, including False Claims Act cases. Medina received recognition as a “Most Influential Women Attorney” and the California Lawyer of the Year award. She handles a wide range of clients, including hospital systems, emergency physician groups, and healthcare consulting companies.
