Ducks’ Ryan Getzlaf suffers nasal sinus fractures
The Ducks have lost captain Ryan Getzlaf for the next two games — and maybe longer — after tests revealed he suffered nasal sinus fractures when he was hit on the forehead by a puck in Tuesday’s game at Phoenix.
Getzlaf required 10 stitches at the time of the injury, and tests Wednesday revealed the broken bones in his face.
He is scheduled to see a specialist Friday to determine whether further treatment is required and how long he will be out. But by placing him on injured reserve, the Ducks ruled out Getzlaf — whose 37 points rank second on the team — for at least Friday’s game against Philadelphia and Sunday’s game against Chicago, the teams that met in the Stanley Cup finals last season.
