Looking ahead
It would be just like the Spurs, whose mascot is a Wile E. Coyote takeoff, to wait until everyone wrote them off to turn back into their old selves.
After starting 2-5 with Manu Ginobili out and Tony Parker joining him, they’re 7-2 and Ginobili and Parker are back.
Better yet, with their roster aging by the minute and Coach Gregg Popovich disinclined to play young players who can’t learn the system -- fast -- he found two he likes: free agent Roger Mason, who’s averaging 15.3 points a game, and rookie point guard George Hill, who scored 20-23-20 in one three-game burst.

The Nuggets are enjoying their own renaissance, 9-3 with Chauncey Billups after starting 1-3 with Allen Iverson.
