Wal-Mart wants Chinese waste cut

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. will ask Chinese suppliers to meet its environmental standards.
Chief Executive H. Lee Scott said Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart would ask its roughly 1,000 Chinese suppliers to reduce emissions and improve waste disposal, energy efficiency and packaging during a meeting in China.
