* Houston 6, at Arizona 4: Geoff Blum doubled in three runs and the Astros handed the Diamondbacks only their third home loss in 13 games. Max Scherzer, Arizona’s 2006 first-round draft pick, retired all 13 batters he faced, seven by strikeout, with a fastball that reached 98 mph. It was the most strikeouts by an Arizona pitcher in his big league debut.
* Colorado 3, at San Francisco 2: Chris Iannetta scored on a disputed seventh-inning balk by Tim Lincecum (4-1) and hit the first home run against the right-hander this year, a second-inning drive to help Aaron Cook (4-1) win his fourth consecutive start. Iannetta doubled to start the seventh inning.
* at Philadelphia 7, San Diego 4: Cole Hamels (3-3) gave up five hits and struck out six in 7 1/3 innings and the Phillies denied Greg Maddux (2-2) his 350th victory. Carlos Ruiz had a two-run double and pinch-hitter Greg Dobbs had a run-scoring double for the Phillies.
* at New York 5, Pittsburgh 4 (11 innings): David Wright hit a single over a pulled-in outfield with the bases loaded in the 11th inning to lift the Mets.
* at Washington 6, Atlanta 3: Ryan Zimmerman had a season-high three hits, including a home run and a tiebreaking two-run double, and the Nationals won for the fourth time in five games.
* Milwaukee 10, at Chicago 7: Mike Cameron had three hits in his first game after serving a 25-game suspension for testing positive twice for a banned stimulant while with San Diego.
* at St. Louis 7, Cincinnati 2: Joel Pineiro (2-2) ended with seven innings of one-hit ball and the Cardinals jumped on rookie Johnny Cueto (1-3) for seven runs in the first two innings.
* Dodgers 7, at Florida 6: Jeff Kent’s two-out single drove in Andre Ethier to end a ninth-inning tie and help the Dodgers win their fourth game in a row.
