Funds OKd for carpool ramp on 60, 215 freeways
County transportation officials voted Wednesday to allocate $4 million in federal funds to help pay for a carpool bridge between the 60 and 215 freeways near Moreno Valley.
The connector ramp will affect carpool lane users traveling on the two freeways between Moreno Valley and Riverside. The Riverside County Transportation Commission signed off on the $38-million project this year but needed the additional funds to buy right-of-way, officials said. The bridge will close a one-mile gap in the region’s carpool lane system.
Construction on the ramp will begin in mid-2009 and last about 18 months, officials said.
