Pedestrian, 81, hit by two vehicles, dies

An 81-year-old woman was struck by two vehicles and killed Friday while crossing a busy street. The Orange County coroner’s office said Joan Van Amersfoorth died at the scene.
Police said she tried to cross Brookhurst Street near Meredith Drive and was hit by a northbound vehicle about 8:15 p.m.
She was run over by another vehicle whose driver stopped and called police.
The driver of the first vehicle, who left the scene but returned, was questioned by officers.
