RESULTS

* Oakland 13, at Cleveland 7: Jack Cust had a career-high five runs batted in to help the Athletics end a five-game losing streak. Cust hit a three-run homer and Shannon Stewart had a two-run drive for the A’s, who pounded Fausto Carmona (8-4) for eight runs in building a 9-0 lead in the second inning. The A’s totaled 10 runs during their season-worst skid. Lenny DiNardo (3-4), who won for the first time in four starts, yielded two runs and five hits in five innings.

* at Seattle 2, Boston 1 (11 innings): Jose Lopez drove in Ichiro Suzuki with a double that eluded a leaping, twisting Manny Ramirez at the left-field wall. Suzuki drew a one-out walk against former Mariners starter Joel Pineiro, and Lopez then hit a 1-and-0 pitch off the wall. The ball bounded past center fielder Coco Crisp, who was backing up Ramirez, allowing Suzuki to score easily.

* Chicago 5, at Tampa Bay 3: Mark Buehrle scattered nine hits over seven innings and repeatedly worked out of jams to give the White Sox a chance to rally for the win. Buehrle fell behind, 3-0, after five innings, yet managed to keep the White Sox within striking distance for their third win in a row because the Devil Rays went 0 for 8 with runners in scoring position while building their lead.

* Toronto 5, at Minnesota 4: The Blue Jays won for the fifth time in six games despite tying a season high for errors -- four. Josh Towers gave up seven hits and three earned runs in the first three innings, but settled down to get his first win as a starter since April 15. He yielded only two hits in the next 3 1/3 innings. Toronto designated hitter Frank Thomas was one for two with two walks and stayed at 499 home runs.

* at Baltimore 4, New York 0: Eric Bedard gave up two hits and a walk in seven innings and did not allow a runner past first base.

* Texas at Detroit, ppd., rain: The game was rescheduled as part of a day-night doubleheader Sept. 11.

* Kansas City 1, at Angels 0: The Angels, shut out for the fourth time this season, didn’t advance a runner past second.
