Man shot to death in school gym
A man was shot and killed Friday in the gymnasium at Charles R. Drew Middle School, officials said.
The unidentified 18-year-old was taken to a hospital, where he died within an hour of multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body.
A 911 call about the shooting at the gym in the 8500 block of Compton Avenue, just north of Watts, was made at 5:52 p.m., authorities said.
The attackers ran out of the gym after the shooting and were still being sought late Friday, said Sgt. Duane Allen, a spokesman with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Officials said it was too early to comment on details of the shooting.
