Winehouse, Allen tours hit snags

Two rising U.K. pop stars have put upcoming tours on hold. Visa issues have sidelined Lily Allen’s small West Coast outing, which was to include a sold-out Sept. 10 stop at Anaheim’s House of Blues, while Amy Winehouse’s official website announced Friday she is putting “all her touring commitments on hold until further notice . . . to address her health issues.”

Little information was made public about Winehouse, who was a last-minute scratch at the U.K.’s V Festival this weekend. The soul singer has a string of U.S. dates planned for September, including sold-out dates at the Wiltern on Sept. 18 and 19. A Winehouse spokeswoman said her U.S. shows will go on as scheduled and that only shows that had been slated for the rest of this month are affected.

Allen’s tour was scheduled around the Sept. 9 MTV Video Music Awards. It was reported by the BBC earlier this month that the reggae-inflected pop star was detained at Los Angeles International Airport over the weekend of Aug. 5 for five hours, and that she had her work visa revoked because of a legal entanglement back home. According to a statement from her label, Capitol, “The reinstatement process has proven lengthier than anticipated.” Ticket refunds are available at the point of purchase.
