Met increases admission fee

New York’s Museum of Modern Art created a ruckus in 2004 when it raised its admission fee to $20, among the highest prices charged by any museum in the world. Now the city’s Metropolitan Museum of Art is following suit.
There’s a difference, however: The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s $20 fee is only recommended, not compulsory, the museum said. The $5 jump takes effect Aug. 1.
