BUZZ CLUBS
New Hollywood just keeps on happening
Promoter Brent Bolthouse is partnering with club mogul Sam Nazarian for the first time. Official announcement of the venture is expected later this week, but the duo -- along with top designer Philippe Starck -- plan to develop new nightclubs and restaurants in L.A. The news comes on the heels of Saturday night’s debut of Bolthouse’s new night at Nazarian’s Privilege nightclub (formerly Shelter/Coconut Teaszer), where Nicole Richie celebrated the release of her book, “The Truth About Diamonds,” with pals Leonardo DiCaprio, Kirsten Dunst, Pete Yorn, Lindsay Lohan, Rose McGowan and Maroon 5. The new club showcased its quarter-million-dollar makeover -- think swanky spin on a British library. In addition, Nazarian just unveiled Lobby, a WeHo supper club at the old Latin Lounge, which has a hot Thursday promotion.
The ‘Idols’
come out to play
Last Thursday night was sizzling. While Randy Jackson was dining at Katana on the Strip, singer Clay Aiken was making ladies swoon at the Kodak Theatre, where he brought to life a sweet Christmas fable he’d written. Rapper-actress Eve celebrated her birthday with pals at Bella, before heading over to the Cabana Club, where Justin Timberlake was hosting a swell soiree for his new clothing line, William Rast. Also in the house were Christina Ricci, Elisha Cuthbert, Prince, Paris Hilton, JC Chasez, Jesse Metcalf and Jewel.... And speaking of Cabana, promoter Pantera Sarah, who usually rocks Thursdays, is hosting a pre-Turkey Day party there on Wednesday with a canned food drive for the L.A. Mission.... While we’re talking turkey, the Bigfoot Lodge is opening its doors for its annual “Misfits Thanksgiving,” which includes $2 Pabst Blue Ribbon on tap. Beats yams.... Jenny McCarthy was the first celeb to get herself done at Suburbia, a new hair and nail salon in Studio City, which hosts a wine-and-cheese bash on Thursday evenings....
Everyone’s talking Tut, it’s the hottest ticket in town this week. LACMA’s “Tutankhamun” exhibition ends Sunday, and Angie Dickinson, Jeremy Piven, Pamela Anderson, Owen Wilson and Tea Leoni hustled down there in recent days to catch it before it disappears.... The Ruby nightclub is closed for repairs, temporarily relocating such fab dance clubs as Sunday’s Beat It, which is shacking up at Avalon; and Bang!, which is now on Thursdays at Boardner’s.
An outlaw who draws a crowd
Johnny Knoxville, Nia Vardalos and members of Pantera turned out for the David Allan Coe show at the Key Club in WeHo on Sunday, where actor-singer John Corbett opened the show with his four-piece band.... And check out Big Blackhawk’s Sweet Spit, a weekly hard rock disco that debuts at Beauty Bar on Dec. 5.... The Ms. Fits, an all-girl Misfits cover band, perform this Sunday at the Airliner Club, a live music hang in Lincoln Heights.
