From Times Wire Reports

The New York Police Department is considering where it would place hundreds of video cameras throughout the city to help fight crime and combat terrorism.

Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said he wanted to put up about 400 surveillance cameras on high-crime and high-traffic streets to record action to be reviewed later if a crime occurred in the area.

Locations for cameras have not been finalized, but areas likely to be targeted for surveillance in Manhattan include Herald Square, Times Square and 125th Street in Harlem, as well as busy thoroughfares in the city’s other boroughs.
