Police Seek Help in Finding Possible Abuse Victims in O.C.
Newport Beach police are asking for the public’s help in finding possible additional victims of a music teacher arrested last week on suspicion of molesting a student.
Aaron William Hallas, 54, has been held in Orange County Jail since Feb. 2 on suspicion of performing lewd acts with a young girl. He was giving her piano lessons at her home.
The girl told her parents about Hallas after viewing an educational video produced by the Boy Scouts of America called “It Happened to Me,” according to Sgt. Steve Shulman, a spokesman for the Newport Beach Police Department.
Detectives also uncovered a separate 2003 report in another city involving Hallas and another young girl. The district attorney’s office has not filed charges in that case, Shulman said.
Parents with information regarding Hallas, who also taught computer classes at a private school in Irvine, are asked to contact Det. John Hougan at (949) 644-3790.
