An eye into Mexico
Thank you for Reed Johnson’s “In the Eye of the Zeitgeist” (June 6). I read it with great interest and was surprised to see no mention of Salvador Carrasco’s film “The Other Conquest,” which is getting a second worldwide release this fall.
I hope Johnson has the opportunity to see it. This is a film that in more than one tangible way has made things possible for the movies mentioned in the article, let alone the fact that this film happens to be about the physical, emotional and cultural formative years of Mexico City. In short, it helps you understand why Mexico is as complex as it is, which is what his whole article is about.
I truly appreciate your devoting such an in-depth article about Mexico and the complexities there. Salvador Carrasco is a true filmmaker, a brilliant storyteller with honesty, passion and conviction.
