Laughter will ring in the air
Your gag shot of that colossally tacky “sculpture” to be placed in front of the Walt Disney Concert Hall (June 4) provided much-needed comic relief.
Your attribution of the, um, “artwork” to perennial prankster Claes Oldenburg gave the joke away, however. How anyone could imagine that an artist still trading on passe visual tropes would add anything to Frank Gehry’s elegantly sculptural building, I don’t know. But thanks for the laugh. I needed it.
(It was a joke, wasn’t it?)
