Student Who Dived Into Ocean May Be Paralyzed

A 23-year-old exchange student from Japan may be paralyzed after he dived into a wave Saturday in Laguna Beach, authorities said.
Koichi Mori, a student at the Pacific Language Institute in Rowland Heights, was airlifted to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo with neck and back injuries, police said.
A companion found Mori floating facedown in the water and alerted lifeguards.
Although conscious, Mori said he had no feeling below the neck, police said.
