Veterans’ Groups Discuss Cemetery
From Times Wire Reports
Veterans’ groups met to discuss plans for a veterans’ cemetery in Shasta County, after reports that the state could not afford to help pay for the site.
The state appears unable to pay for the cemetery’s annual grounds maintenance, estimated to cost from $750,000 to $900,000 a year, said Willie Preston, district director for Assemblyman Doug LaMalfa (R-Biggs).
Construction for the cemetery was tentatively set to begin April 1, but state officials said it could be delayed for about a year.
