Jackson makes Internet history
If Michael Jackson is the King of Pop, then his sister, Janet, could be the Queen of Pop-Out.
After her flash of breast during Sunday’s Super Bowl half-time show, Janet Jackson-related websites, including her official site, became the top six most-visited musician websites, according to the Internet traffic monitoring service Hitwise.
The performer’s official site, www.janet-jackson.com, went from a ranking of 173 on Saturday to the No. 1 spot Sunday evening, with an 1,800% gain in market share, Hitwise said Thursday.
According to the search engine Lycos, the halftime flash also has become the most searched-for event in the history of the Internet. On Monday, it received 50 times as many searches as the usual day-after champ: Super Bowl commercials. Previously, the Sept. 11 attacks were the most sought after topic in a one-day period.
