2-Car Crash Kills Newport Doctor
A Newport Beach man died Wednesday after a two-vehicle crash in Costa Mesa, authorities said.
Dr. John Charles Kennady, 78, was driving his Porsche Carrera south on Hyland Avenue at South Coast Drive when the car was broadsided by a Dodge Durango.
Kennady, a neurosurgeon at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, was taken to that hospital, where he died during surgery.
The driver of the SUV was not injured, police said, but three children in the vehicle were treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to Fountain Valley Medical Center. Their conditions were unknown.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation, police said.
