Powell in Europe
Re “Powell Attempts to Mend Europe Ties,” Dec. 9: Again Secretary of State Colin Powell is being used as the errand boy of the Bush administration. His incredible statement, “The war happened,” in a plea for help from the Europeans boggles the mind. No, Mr. Powell, the war didn’t just “happen.” Your boss illegally invaded Iraq in spite of vehement objections by the Europeans, and now you want them to rescue the U.S. from the consequences! If the tables were turned, how would you respond?
