James’ Best Game Gets Wasted in 2 OTs

Cleveland rookie LeBron James had his best game as a pro -- 33 points, 16 rebounds and seven assists -- but he had two costly turnovers late in the first overtime Saturday night that helped the Memphis Grizzlies rally for a 122-115 victory at Cleveland.

Pau Gasol scored a career-high 37 points and Shane Battier had 22 points and a career-high 12 rebounds for the Grizzlies, who trailed by 24 in the first half and 16 going into the fourth quarter.

Memphis’ comeback was its biggest since overcoming a 25-point deficit to beat Portland on March 25, 2002.

Mike Miller had 20 points and a career-high 13 assists for the Grizzlies, who clawed back by scoring the first 18 points of the fourth quarter.

Cleveland’s Ricky Davis had 25 points and Zydrunas Ilgauskas 17 before fouling out in the first minute of overtime.

James made a steal and dunk with 2:30 left in the first overtime to put the Cavaliers up, 107-102.

But the sensational rookie turned the ball over twice and the Grizzlies got within one on Gasol’s two free throws with 31 seconds left.

James hit a driving left-handed layup with 14.2 seconds left, but the Grizzlies came back again as Miller made a three-pointer over Davis with two seconds left to tie the score.
