Trucker Faces Murder Charges in Crash
An Iowa trucker will face murder charges for allegedly running over a Bay Area couple in their car last month and then ramming his truck into a second big rig, a Glenn County Superior Court judge has ruled.
In a preliminary hearing Wednesday, Dist. Atty. Bob Holzapfel gave details of the Jan. 2 accident that killed Donald Perrott, 24, of Santa Rosa and Caitlin Byrd, 22, of Sebastopol.
Investigators say trucker Frederick Mark Goody of Wyoming, Iowa, was speeding when he crushed the Honda sedan in which the pair were traveling and then rammed it into a second big rig. Perrott and Byrd were trapped in their car underneath.
