New Year’s Holiday Closures
Thursday is New Year’s Day. The following schedule will be in effect in observance of the holiday:
Offices: All city, county, state and federal offices will be closed.
Courts: All courthouses will be closed.
Mail: All post offices will be closed and no mail will be delivered.
Banks: All banks will be closed.
Libraries: City and county libraries will be closed.
Schools: Los Angeles Unified schools will reopen Monday or Jan. 12, depending on the track. Four-track and three-track schools will reopen Monday. Single-track schools will reopen Jan. 12.
Trash collection: There will be no trash collection in the city of Los Angeles. If trash is normally picked up Thursday or Friday, pickup will be postponed a day.
Public transportation: MTA bus and rail service will follow Sunday schedules; limited Metrolink service on the San Bernardino and Orange County lines.
