Home Remodelers Build Up Business With Recent Buyers
Recent home buyers accounted for 25.7% of the dollars spent on remodeling in the United States in 2001, according to the National Assn. of Realtors.
And this year, residential remodeling and repair expenditures are expected to reach an all-time high, according to the National Assn. of the Remodeling Industry.
The trade group projects that total spending in 2002 will be $163 billion, compared with $157.5 billion in 2001 and $150 billion in 2000.
The top two home improvements with the highest return are kitchen and bathroom remodeling. For homeowners who are planning to remodel, the association offers a free brochure titled “How to Select a Remodeling Professional,” available by calling (800) 611-NARI.
