FAA Orders Inspections of Firefighting Planes

Reacting to safety officials’ announcement that fatigue cracks caused two old firefighting planes to crash, the Federal Aviation Administration has ordered the inspection of all such aircraft.
All firefighting C-130s and PB4Ys have been grounded since the crashes. Special inspection techniques, including the use of dye to make minute cracks visible, were ordered by the FAA.
