Girl Still Critical After Shotgun Blast

An 8-year-old Dana Point girl lost her right kidney and most of her right arm and remained in critical condition a day after her father accidentally shot her at close range with his new shotgun.
No charges will be filed in the Friday evening shooting, Orange County sheriff’s officials said. The names of the father and the girl--who is in the intensive care unit of Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center--were not released.
