Solectron Posts $2.6-Billion Loss
Solectron Corp., the world’s biggest maker of electronics for other companies, had a loss of $2.6 billion on acquisition-related costs.
The net loss widened to $3.21 a share in the quarter ended Aug. 30 from $250.3 million, or 38 cents, in the year-earlier period, the company said. Sales fell 13% to $3.12 billion.
Chief Executive Koichi Nishimura will retire next year.
Shares of Milpitas, Calif.-based Solectron rose 1 cent to $2.21 on the NYSE before the report.
