Man, 32, Dies After Being Struck by Bus
A man died after he stumbled off a sidewalk and into the path of a passing transit bus, authorities said Friday.
The 32-year-old man was pronounced dead Thursday shortly after the 9:30 p.m. accident at the Chatsworth Transportation Center on Devonshire Street, said Los Angeles Police Sgt. William McAllister. The man’s name was withheld pending notification of his family.
The bus driver swerved to avoid hitting him, but a rear wheel of the vehicle ran over the man’s chest, a witness told police.
The Coach USA bus was under contract to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, said agency spokesman Marc Littman.
