Pataki Leading Over 2 Challengers, Poll Says
Gov. George Pataki has a 20-point lead over Democratic challenger H. Carl McCall, with a third-party billionaire candidate running 30 points behind the two-term Republican, a statewide poll showed.
The poll, from Marist College’s Institute for Public Opinion, had Pataki leading McCall 47% to 27% among likely voters, with B. Thomas Golisano at 17%.
A Marist poll released Oct. 1 had Pataki leading McCall 48% to 32% among likely voters, with Golisano at 9%.
The latest phone poll of 432 likely voters, conducted Monday and Tuesday, had an error margin of 5 percentage points.
