IBM Launches ‘On Demand’ Strategy

In his first major public initiative as chief executive, Samuel Palmisano introduced a new strategy for IBM Corp. that stresses selling computing as a utility-like service.

IBM is investing $10 billion in its “e-business on demand” project, which will let companies tap IBM services rather than investing in a lot of hardware and expensive programs.
