Man Gets 15 years to Life in Street-Racing Deaths

A Santa Ana man was sentenced Friday to 15 years to life in prison in the street-racing deaths of a father and his 6-year-old daughter.
Jose Escobar Estrada, 35, and his daughter, Michelle, were killed when their car was struck head-on by a pickup truck Arturo Ortiz, 21, was driving in an illegal street race Aug. 3, 2001.
Estrada died at the scene; Michelle died a week later. Two other children in Estrada’s car -- daughters Clarabell, 3, and Esmeralda, 11 -- were injured.
