Improvement Is Great, but Losses Mean More

Diane Pucin, welcome to college football. It takes 11 games (12 or 13 this year) to make a season, and the bowl selections are based on season records. According to the “Pucin Scale” Ohio State does not belong in the Fiesta Bowl, and maybe USC does. A glance at the current AP poll shows OSU at 13-0, USC at 9-2, with the Buckeyes 3-0 against top-25 teams, while the Trojans are 2-2.

According to you, there are only two quality teams in the Big Ten. Was the death penalty somehow levied against Penn State and Michigan and I missed it? Iowa lost to Iowa State, which lost to Connecticut. Nice spinoff, Diane, but I think a better comparison might be to see if Ohio State and USC played any common foes this season. Check the results when both teams played Washington State.

And, I do have answers to your three important questions: 1. Yes, I would put my money on Iowa if they played USC. 2. Iowa’s Brad Banks is as hot as Palmer, and by the way he has one more win and one fewer loss. 3. I like the Buckeyes’ roster of running backs and receivers, in comparison to the Trojans’.
