Zsa Zsa Gabor Is ‘Getting Better’
Two days after she suffered broken bones in a West Hollywood car crash, Zsa Zsa Gabor was improving Friday but still in serious condition at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Gabor’s husband, Frederic von Anhalt, said the actress is “getting better, she recovered a little last night. It’s just that she’s in so much pain she doesn’t respond to anything. Her eyes were open and she was looking around, but couldn’t speak beyond a whisper. She is trying to talk but can’t. She is whispering, but she is much, much better.”
The hospital declined to elaborate on her condition.
The 85-year-old film and television actress was the passenger in a car that jumped a curb and slammed into a light pole Wednesday.
In addition to suffering broken bones, Gabor received stitches to close wounds on her head, hands, arms and legs.
Gabor was not wearing a seat belt, said Sheriff’s Deputy Bruce Thomas. The unidentified driver, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene, he said.
